Hey folks,

So there are a couple of issues with the PDF that means that we need to do some re-rendering. You may not see the PDF come through today, but hopefully very soon if not this evening.

For now, take a look at the cover!

An update, and GET REKT Details!!
over 5 years ago – Sun, Oct 21, 2018 at 03:27:15 PM

It’s update time!

So these last couple of months have been pretty slammed with different aspects of life, but progress has been made! Before I get started though, I want to make sure that you all know we have a discord server, and if you need more regular updates on progress, or even to chat with us real-time about your questions or concerns, I highly suggest you make your way over and join the community.

Here is the link: https://discord.gg/Nctn7jr

Seriously, go join it.

 ------------------------------------

So most of you have been requesting updates about development, and I am going to try and give you a bit of a play by play as to what has occurred and how we have been dealing with it. This is by no means an exhaustive list of what’s been happening, but I am hoping it gives some clarity.

COVERS
As many of you know, I have been using the same artist for my book covers (the standard and the collector’s edition) at least, and was planning on commissioning a third image from them to deal with the GET REKT edition.

Life happens, however, and my artist found themselves unable to complete the commission due to a battery of personal events. After some time, the commission was canceled and I was left in the hard position to find another artist who I thought could do as great a job while holding firm to the artistic direction of Project Biomodus.

Well, thankfully about a month ago, Kaz Adams, a wonderful human being (and one of my favorite on the planet) stepped in and offered to help. That cover has now been completed, and the last final parts for the GET REKT version are being compiled.

GET REKT PDF
The GET REKT pdf file will be shipped to you all through BackerKit. This version of the book was not intended to have a PDF version, so you guys will be the only ones to really have it, and it will be free as an apology for the wait you have had to endure while things happen.

So the big question is, “when is it going to be arriving”?

Well, today, I am hoping.

Megan (my layout artist) is doing one final pass and render for me, as there were some very last minute corrections, and after I give it a final pass, I shall be uploading it to BackerKit as a digital file for you all to collect. That goes for all backers and pre-orders, regardless of what tier you backed me as.

The Printed Version should be available shortly, and Megan and I are getting to work on finalizing the Standard and Collector’s edition of Project Biomodus.

If you want more information on the GET REKT edition of Project Biomodus, or you want to know how it will differ from the final versions, then feel free to read up on the how and why here:

ART AND LORE BOOK / STATUE / OTHER BACKER STUFF
So I have been put in a fairly hard position with the Art and Lore book, in deciding what I want to put in there. There is much I want to blather on about regarding the world, but much of it is already game content, and the art is also a part of the main book in their final forms. Work and layout have not even started on this book yet, but I am fully intending to revisit this.

For those of you willing to wait for this book, I am happy to finish this when the main books are done, but for now, you can consider this book on hold.

The Statue is also probably going to be a bit of a no-show, mostly because of my inability to focus on things outside of the main book and life, and also because demand was very low. Shirts can still be done, but again, they may be on more of a later timescale.

CONVENTIONS
This last weekend, I was at the wonderful Save Against Fear Convention over in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. The convention is run by a wonderful charity called The Bodhana Group, many of which are good, personal friends of mine. I had the opportunity to spend time with those guys, as well as meet some of the fantastic names – big and small – in the RPG industry.

As the New Year comes around, I will be visiting fewer conventions. Travel and hotels are expensive, and due to some recent employment changes, I will be unable to afford much of the expense that travel dictates for me to attend them.

As of 2019, I will probably be only able to make a couple of conventions. As it stands, I will be aiming to attend Kublacon in May, then Save Against Fear again in October. Everything else is going to be off the plate, sadly, aside from TennoCon in July.

PERSONAL
I have made mention of this briefly, but there is a lot going on in the personal lives of our team, none more so than my own at this point. I am currently going through a severe personal change, and while it is not as messy as it could be, there is a lot of paperwork and financial parts to such changes. On top of that, I will be changing careers shortly, something which will require me to move to another part of California.

All of these things come with a hefty emotional, financial and stamina cost, and while they could be much, much worse (and thankfully, they are not), they take a toll on my ability to create and focus on the book to the level I had initially expected. This has contributed in no small part to the delay you have experienced, and for that I can only continue to give you my heartfelt thanks and apologies for being so patient.

Kickstarter projects are no simple matter. This experience has been an eye-opening one for certain, and while I was not prepared for some aspects, the advice of people around me has helped mitigate several problems that could have sunk the project completely.

That’s about it for now.

If you have any more questions for me, then I cannot suggest that you join our discord channel hard enough. There is a great community of people there, most of your questions will get answered within hours, and it’s a great way to discuss the game system and our progress.

Again, the link for the Discord is as follows:

https://discord.gg/Nctn7jr

Thank you all for your time and patience. I know this has been a hard wait, but the slog is finally starting to see light. If you have any questions or comments about the PDF you will be receiving (again, hopefully, today), then please drop by on the discord and ask!

Thanks all!

Still Alive! JOIN THE DISCORD - https://discord.gg/Nctn7jr
over 5 years ago – Wed, Aug 29, 2018 at 01:54:59 PM

Good Morning Biomodus!

So, I know it has been a while since I have made an update here, but I have had a few messages asking how things are going that have slipped me by. First off, I want to apologize to those folks whom had left me a message and did not get an answer, but also to the rest of you as a whole.

I’m sorry, you guys deserve better.

To explain a little, the discord channel has been my go to for answering questions, so I highly… HIGHLY suggest you all add yourselves to that if you have not done so already.

You can join the channel by following this link: https://discord.gg/Nctn7jr

There are several good reasons for this:

Firstly, there are other people in the community there who have already asked questions about updates, who may be able to answer you before even I see them. I also get to interact with the group as a whole so if there is a discussion about direction to be had, then it can be a bit more fluid then just a back and forth over messages.

Secondly, is the community itself. There are people there who are playing Project Biomodus already and can help talk people through their experiences. Many of our players also share stories and art, and I will also post up work-in-progress bits for people to see and comment on.

Honestly, Discord is the place to be for all things Project Biomodus, so please do not hesitate to head over, introduce yourself to the community and take part in the discussions there while the Get Rekt PDF is getting finalized to release to you all.

I will have more of an in-depth progress report coming shortly, but for now, if you have any questions, please feel free to reply… but yeah, the Discord is where you are going to get your concerns and questions answered way more directly.

Thank you everyone for your continued patience. It kills me that we are behind on release, but I want it to be the best it can be for you, and that sadly involves waiting for contractors to finish their work, as hard at it may be. Being a small team, we rely heavily on people outside of the org to do work for the art and layout and those people also have schedules and life events.

I know there has been a wait, but it has been my creative dream to work with these folks and to help them also achieve a foothold in the Tabletop RPG community. I don’t think you will be disappointed when it’s done.

Thank you all again for your support. Without you, Project Biomodus would not be half of what it is today.

You guys are the best! <3

So What's Going On...?
almost 6 years ago – Sun, Jun 03, 2018 at 03:07:04 PM

Hey Folks!

So I know it has been a while since I have made an update, so here is the general rundown on the state of things:

GET REKT
The layout is complete for the GET REKT Edition of Project Biomodus. I am simply waiting for the cover image. Once that image is in place, the PDF will be ready and the printed version will be submitted for last approval and proofing. Once the PDF version is live, all of you will be getting a copy as a way of apologizing for the delay that we have had here in production.

STANDARD AND COLLECTORS EDITION
The layout has begun, and Megan, our amazing layout artist, is on the case. The difference between the GET REKT and STANDARD/COLLECTORS Editions of the book will be an increase in art, different covers, and some additional lore. The Collector’s Edition of the book will not be made available commercially for anyone, so if you have backed at that level, you will be the only ones to possess said version! Since most of the template is already done, that requires a little less work than going from scratch, but we do not have a good ETA for you yet.

I understand that we are behind schedule for release, but we are working on getting the book out to you all in the shortest amount of time possible without sacrificing quality or content. Again, I apologize that this has taken longer than expected, but we are working diligently to make this happen soon.

OTHER ITEMS
The ART AND LORE book is still in pre-production, meaning that it may not be available for a while yet. There is still some discussion as to what will go in it, as well as reaching out to the artists for their Bios and other art that they wish to include to showcase themselves.

The Statue of Maal is also up in the air as of this time. There were very few orders for this item and give the low amount of production, it may be more cost-effective to not have it produced and refund our backers who have requested it. As of this time, that decision has yet to be made, but I will be discussing it internally with the team.

Our PROJECT BIOMODUS Collectors Shirt design has not yet been finalized, but we will be putting some designs together soon, once we find a more reliable printing partner. The community will get to vote on the shirt design they want, and the winner will be on the final print. Again, this shirt will not be made available for purchase after PROJECT BIOMODUS is released commercially.

CONVENTIONS
We have just come back from KublaCon, but sadly we were not able to make it in time to run the game there. However, We will be making an appearance at TENNOCON 2018 in London, Ontario (Canada) and SAVE AGAINST FEAR in Harrisburg, PA. While TENNOCON is a Warframe convention, we make it a point of going each year to meet and greet with a good portion of our backers (who come from the Warframe Community), so if you are going, make sure to let us know!

Details for Both conventions can be found here:
 TENNOCON 2018: https://www.warframe.com/tennocon/attend
 SAVE AGAINST FEAR 2018: http://www.thebodhanagroup.org/about-the-convention

LASTLY, A THANK YOU
I want to thank the members of our community and backers who have been very understanding of our delays. The Last 12 months have been very difficult for us, both with PROJECT BIOMODUS production and personally with the team. Unexpected things crop up, but in this case, those unexpected things were life-altering and sadly, deeply painful in some cases.

You continue to inspire us to do better and to give you the book you deserve. Regardless of anything else, it is you who make PROJECT BIOMODUS possible, and the fundamental reason we keep going through the days.

Thank you for your patience and your ongoing, uplifting faith in PROJECT BIOMODUS. We owe you the most heartfelt of our thanks.

Much love,
